Overview

Fabius is a town in the southeast corner of Onondaga County, bordered to the north by Pompey, to the east by Madison County (town of New Woodstock), to the south by Cortland County and to the west by Tully. The town includes a village also named Fabius as well as the hamlets of Apulia and Keeney.


Essentials

The village has a few small stores, like Anna’s Country store and a flower shop. For most other shopping needs, you’ll have to drive a short ways. For groceries, the closest Wegmans supermarket is on East Genesee Street in Fayetteville, about 16 miles north. Tops Friendly Markets has a store on Nelson Street in Cazenovia, about 12 miles northeast, and another store in Fayetteville. For retail shopping, there’s a Walmart store in East Syracuse, about 19 miles north.



Recreation & Entertainment

If you’re here, you love the great outdoors. Fabius has little development but plenty of wide-open spaces that are perfect for hunting and fishing, camping and picnicking. Most other entertainment choices are a bit of a ways from here. ShoppingTown Mall in Dewitt, which has a movie-theater complex and other attractions, is about 17 miles north.



Transportation & Traffic

Route 91 heads north-south through the town and intersects the east-west Route 80 in the village of Fabius.



Pros & Cons

Outdoor living and wide-open spaces are what attracts people to Fabius. It’s the smallest town by population in Onondaga County with just under 2,000 residents. In Fabius, you’re bordering two other counties (Madison County to the east and Cortland County to the south).
